About Me
Maitjian Welke came to the US to attend college with a student visa in the 1980s from Indonesia. She received her degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas in Austin, and was the first in her family to go to college. Maitjian has over 25 years of extensive IT & Software Engineering experience working in major technology corporations, including IBM, SUN, CISCO, VMWare, and GOOD Technology. As a Software Engineering leader, she grew and led large engineering teams in the US and globally, with locations in Bangalore/Chennai (India), Beijing (China), Dublin (Ireland), Prague (Czech Republic), and London (England). Her technology legacy includes being part of the SUN Microsystems engineering team that introduced the Java platform to the world. Together with her husband and business partner, Todd Welke, Maitjian founded CMIT Solutions Silicon Valley, specializing in IT infrastructure, Cyber Security, IT Consulting, and CIO/CISO services. They have been successfully serving companies in the Silicon Valley Bay Area for over 15 years. In such a competitive business environment, they are especially proud of their high client retention rate, which they attribute to their dedicated, long-term employees. Maitjian has also been active in industry leadership roles. She has served on the Board of Industry Council for Small Business Development as CIO since 2014. As an active VAR Channel Partner for Fortune 500 computer manufacturers, she has been recognized in the Women of the Channel by CRN Magazine every year since 2015 for her leadership and contribution to the IT industry. She is passionate about helping small and medium-sized corporations with Technology and Cyber Security. Her article on Email Security was published in the CIO Story Magazine – 2015 Cyber Security and Cisco Edition. She has been invited as a Cyber Security Panelist for a number of Cyber Security Summits and Expos in San Jose, Fresno, and Los Angeles, and has delivered numerous Cyber Security webinars for professionals. In 2021, she was invited to develop and teach a Cybersecurity course at the University of California, Santa Cruz Extension, and has also been a guest lecturer at San Jose State University. Finally, Maitjian is a Certified CMMC Practitioner by Cyber-AB/DoD, helping defense industry contractors prepare for the 2025 Cyber Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) compliance mandate.
